1 Six days later Jesus took Peter and the two brothers, James and John, and led them up a high mountain to be alone. 2 As the men watched, Jesus’ appearance was transformed so that his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as light. 3 Suddenly, Moses and Elijah appeared and began talking with Jesus.
4 Peter exclaimed, “Lord, it’s wonderful for us to be here! If you want, I’ll make three shelters as memorialst—one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”
5 But even as he spoke, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy. Listen to him.” 6 The disciples were terrified and fell face down on the ground.
Let us stop and think for a moment. Why did God have to create such a supernatural event at a time when it would be out of context of the things that Jesus is already doing? Why did God have to orchestrate this event? Why didn’t He just let life go on without making this event happen?
I believe it is because God wants to make it obvious, and God wants to make sure that we would listen to everything that Jesus is saying! That all Jesus says is the truth! So that it would be a “duh” moment when we question what Jesus is saying. It is to make sure that we would believe that Jesus is the Son of God. It is to make sure that we, His creation, would listen to and believe everything that Jesus teaches.
Because if we listen to Jesus, if we believe what He says, if we follow His teachings, we would all be saved. We would all be able to live out the purpose of why God created us. All problems would be solved. We would bring Heaven on earth. This is the kind of life God wants us to have. That is why He had to suddenly insert this event in the history of the disciples. He wants all of us to live the great life He planned out for us! God always thinks of good things for us! God is good all the time!
