May you always be filled with the fruit of your salvation—the righteous character produced in your life by Jesus Christ—for this will bring much glory and praise to God.
According to this verse, the best way, and the ONLY WAY we can change is through the help of Jesus Christ!
I usually find myself confessing my sins, and then promising God not to do it again, then try to avoid situations so I won’t repeat the sin. But after some length of time trying to resist temptation, I just find myself again too weak to resist and do the sin again.
My problem is obvious. I am trying to change myself with MY OWN STRENGTH! I forgot to let Jesus Christ change me! But how do I do that?
The Holy Spirit led me through a series of events to get the revelation that the way for Jesus to change me is to DILIGENTLY study who He is and what He did for me to be free from sin! The more I remember the reason why Jesus let Himself be tortured on the cross, the more I became victorious over sin. The more I am reminded of His love and compassion and undying wooing to get me in His presence, the more I became victorious over sin. The more I find out how God HONORed me, and went to earth to MAKE DISCIPLES so that He could reach me, the more I became victorious over sin.
The more I studied who God is and what He did because of His love for me, the more I became victorious over sin.
I pray that the Holy Spirit would give you the same fervor He gave me to run after God. To diligently seek and study Him so that “His righteous character would be produced in your life by Jesus Christ.” Amen!
