Matthew 13:31-33 NLT – 31 Here is another illustration Jesus used: “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a mustard seed planted in a field.32 It is the smallest of all seeds, but it becomes the largest of garden plants; it grows into a tree, and birds come and make nests in its branches.”
33 Jesus also used this illustration: “The Kingdom of Heaven is like the yeast a woman used in making bread. Even though she put only a little yeast in three measures of flour, it permeated every part of the dough.”
Today is Sunday, the day Jesus rose from the dead. We celebrate Sundays by resting in the presence of Jesus’ victory. Resting in His finished work. Jesus said, “Come to me all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
Did you ever think sometimes that it is too late for you to change? You are thinking that you have been living a life of anger, or cheating, or stealing, or cussing, or drinking, or smoking, or lusting, or lying too long that you could never change. Then you finally learned that God has already given you freedom through Jesus on the cross from all of these hindrances, and yet they still do not leave. You prayed against it, you asked for prayer, you believed Jesus already gave you freedom from them, and yet you still do the same hindering actions. This led you to think, maybe it is too late for me to change.
That is a lie from the devil. I have seen too many people changed by God to believe that. Even my own bad lifelong addictions were changed by God to good actions. God loves you very much as His child. He does not want you to be hindered from living the freedom He already gave you!
In the verses above, Jesus said that even the smallest of all seed planted in your life, will grow to the biggest tree. Even the smallest amount of yeast, mixed in your life, will permeate every part of your life. The Word of God is the seed (Matthew 13:22-23 NLT). Even if God’s Word is the minority of the thoughts going on in your mind and in your heart, even if most of your thoughts are ungodly and only 1 small thought is God’s Word, Jesus said it will grow, overtake and destroy all the ungodly thoughts until it is the only one filling your mind and heart. It is like light and darkness. God’s Word is light. Light does not ENDURE darkness. Light DISSIPATES darkness. Stop enduring defeat and claim its total disintegration! You are a son of God! Rest in this truth and live it out.
It is never too late for you to change. It is never too late for anyone to change. Start planting His Word in your mind and heart to dissipate all bad thoughts and actions. God loves you so much He created you and His Word in such a way that His Word would naturally grow in you. It just needs water, sunshine, and time. Keep reading the Word, keep hearing the Word, keep meditating on the Word, keep speaking the Word, keep believing the Word, keep doing the Word (all of these is daily watering and sunshine), and through time, it will permeate your whole thought life in your mind and in your heart. That is God’s promise. That is God’s truth. That is God’s Word. That is what happens! It is already a finished work through Jesus. Let us just come to Him and let His Words give you peace and rest.
Prayer Starter: My dear loving God, you loved me so much you sent me your Word to destroy every hindrance in my thought life, in my mind and heart, and even in my body. I just need to rest in your Word, in your finished work. Give me a thirst for Your Word. I decide starting today to stop wasting my time on doing nothing and letting the words of the world come into my mind and heart and body. I will start filling myself with the truth, your Word. Starting today, I decide to make myself believe in your Word first, and reject all other words that goes against it. I decide to change my schedule to prioritize spending time with You and Your Word. And it will grow in me to dissipate every hindering thoughts and actions. I rest in this truth. It is done. Thank You Jesus. I love you Jesus. Amen.
