Psalm 1:1 NLT – Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers.
I used to play these “choose your own adventure” books wherein you read a situation, then it asks you what you want to do. Then depending on the choice you made, you go to a page which gives you another situation and asks you again what you want to do. And the outcome of the story of the book is different every time you make a different choice.
Our life is similar to this kind of book except that God loves us so much that He gave us this great adventure life with tests, and with it gave us all the right answers to all the tests, and also gave us authority and power to use these answers to pass all the tests towards the best life we could ever live!
God lets us do the choosing though. God never forces us to choose the right way or wrong way. That is one of His blessings to us. We have our own free will. We are not His robots. A robots life is slavery and boring. God wanted us to have a free and abundant life. And like the “choose your own adventure” book, if we choose wrong, then the outcome would be bad. If we choose right, then we would have a free and victorious life. The life you have today is due to your whole history of choosing. You cannot blame God at all. It is all you.
God wants you to choose the right path ALL THE TIME because He loves you. He said it in Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Plus if you have already done a lot of wrong choices before, God can restart everything for you. Just start making the right choices now and God will let you repeat your adventure. The question now is, how do I make the right choices?
As clearly shown in the verses above, God is telling us the wrong path. In the next verses of Psalm 1, He tells us the right path. All the wisdom and power you need is in His Word. Just read it, claim it, and appropriate it. Now its your call. If you choose life, just do EVERYTHING YOU CAN to believe God’s Word, the Bible, and start using it to always make the right choices! Just do it.
Prayer Starter: Dear Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for me, so I can now make the right choices for the adventure you gave me. Because of you, I now have the power to restart my life, to have a new life. I am sorry I always rejected your Word and the life you wanted me to live. Starting today, I want to live the great adventure you gave me. I will enjoy the life you gave me. Teach me to understand your Word. I know now it is the answer to all my life’s questions. Teach me Lord today. Let me see your Word in everything I do today. Thank you God for loving and caring for me so much. Amen.
